Furthest North is Canada's premiere rustic camping event based on the belief that not everyone wants plush beds and room service when they camp.
Furthest North summer 2008 gets back to these roots with a "back to basics" approach. No, we're not using pine cones instead of toilet paper, and meals are still provided, but the focus is on getting back to what Furthest North was founded on: fun, relaxation, and making new friends. Relax, attend a workshop, or do absolutely nothing at all; Furthest North is really what you make it.
Furthest North summer 2008 runs from August 2 - 4, 2008. Gates will open on August 2 at 2:00 pm and close on August 4 at 2:00 pm.
Furthest North summer 2008 will be hosted at the Deer Creek campground, 45 km southwest of Sundre, Alberta, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
Firearms and drugs are absolutely forbidden anywhere on site at Furthest North. This includes your personal areas. Firearms includes miscellaneous weapons, like slingshots, BB guns, pellet guns, Airsoft weapons, swords, lead pipes, bricks, etc. Those found violating this rule will be made to leave the premises. If you relied on someone else for transportation, it will be explained why they now must go too. In other words, don't do it.
Sexual behaviour in public is also forbidden. I have received complaints from others in the past and on some years, minors have attended Furthest North, creating a very real legal liability that I do not want to be involved in and I do not want Furthest North involved in.
Meals are included in your registration for Furthest North. The following are the current meal plans:

Supper: Lasagna
Sunday:
Breakfast: Bacon and eggs

Due to manufacturing defects, last year's t-shirts did not materialize. Those who ordered t-shirts will be provided brand-new Furthest North 2008 t-shirts!
If you are interested in purchasing one (or more!) of these t-shirts, please e-mail me and specify what colours (black or white) and sizes (S, M, L, XL, XXL, or XXXL) that you are interested in. If orders are far enough in advance, I will deliver in person at Furthest North. Otherwise, I can ship them for a nominal fee.
If you are interested in talking about Furthest North or meeting others before the event, you are invited to join #furthestnorth on FurNet. I attempt to be there as often as possible in order to answer questions. If you require assistance connecting to FurNet, please e-mail me and I will assist you.
Furthest North has a long history of providing an entertaining way furs together from Canada, the U.S., and the rest of the world to explore Canada's wilderness and showing others that the "bright lights" do not only belong to the cities! Here is a small selection of photographs taken from last years' event. Others will be added soon. Click to enlarge.
